A Gaiwan is a traditional lidded vessel used for brewing and serving tea, designed to bring the tea leaves, water, and aroma together in a simple, intimate ritual.
Handmade and wood-fired through the traditional Chai Shao process, each piece is shaped by both the artist’s hand and the unique atmosphere of the kiln. Flame, ash, heat, and placement all leave their own subtle traces, giving every piece a character that can never be exactly repeated.
Each piece is one of a kind and sold individually. The piece shown in the product photos is the exact piece you will receive, and no identical reproduction will be made.

Because each piece is handmade and wood-fired, variations in form, color, flashing, ash deposits, glaze, surface texture, and firing marks are an integral part of the work rather than defects. These unique characteristics reflect the artist’s hand and the natural movement of flame and ash within the kiln.
Care
Hand washing is recommended for the gentlest long-term care of the surface and finish. Avoid sudden temperature changes, thermal shock, and direct flame.
